It has been announced that global superstar Christina Aguilera will be honoured as a Disney Legend at the forthcoming D23 Expo.

The ‘Ain’t No Other Man’ songstress is no stranger to Disney, having joined the Disney family at a young age as a member of The Mickey Mouse Club alongside the likes of Britney Spears, Justin Timberlake and Ryan Gosling. In 1998 she recorded a pop version of ‘Reflection’, which appeared on the soundtrack to Mulan.

Of course, we know Christina best as the pop sensation who rose to worldwide fame in 1999 with her debut single ‘Genie in a Bottle’. Over the past two decades, she has released countless tracks including ‘What A Girl Wants’, ‘Dirrty’, ‘Beautiful’, and ‘Candyman’, released eight studio albums, sold over 43 million records and has earned multiple Grammy Awards.

Christina joins the previously confirmed recipients of the Disney Legend status: Barnette Ricci, Bette Midler, Diane Sawyer, Hans Zimmer, James Earl Jones, Jon Favreau, Kenny Ortega, Ming-Na Wen, Robert Downey Jr., Robin Roberts, and Wing Chao.

Each of the Disney Legends will be given a two-foot-tall bronze sculpture, whilst they will participate in a handprint ceremony at the end of the event, where their prints will be displayed at the Disney Legends Plaza. They will also be given a Disney Golden Pass which gives them lifetime access to the Disney Parks.

Hosted by Bob Iger, the Disney Legends Awards ceremony will be held at 10 a.m. on Friday, August 23, in Hall D23 of the Anaheim Convention Center.
