To celebrate the comic book superheroes, Royal Mail has released a series of special stamps celebrating Marvel superheroes, which will be available in post offices soon.
The stamps will feature some of the most popular superheroes from the Marvel franchise, celebrating their 80th anniversary this year. There will be 15 stamps released overall, 5 of which, when grouped together, will create their own comic strip story (as seen in the first image).
The stamps were designed by Alan Davis, who has worked as an illustrator for Marvel since the early 1980s. He was also the illustrator behind ‘Captain Britain’, the first Marvel superhero created for the UK.
He said: “I really can’t take all the credit for producing these stamps. My long-time collaborator, Mark Farmer, supplied the blackline inks for the stamps and Laura Martin added the colours.”
Philip Parker from the Royal Mail said: “Generations have grown up spellbound by the adventures and the personalities of these superheroes. Our epic new stamps celebrate each in [a] characteristic pose, emerging from the stamp frame.”
They will be available to buy in post offices from 14th March this year.
